Our 1 1/2″ select rift and quartered unfinished solid red oak flooring is one of the most unique and hard-to-find items that we offer.
1 1/2″ wide oak flooring is kind of like a glimpse of the past when builders specified 1 1/2″ red oak floors for new homes all over the country.
Once builders realized that a wider plank was faster to install, and wider plank flooring was becoming readily available, the 1 1/2″ red oak floor lost popularity among new home construction.
If you thought you could no longer find 1 1/2″ red oak hardwood to match your existing floors, or for your new home, think again!
This rift & quartered version of our 1 1/2″ unfinished red oak flooring is harder, and more dense than the plain-sawn version, and features a straighter grain pattern.
Rift & Quarter Sawn Oak is known for having a tighter, straighter grain than plain-sawn oak floors, and it is also well known for the unique “ribbon and fleck” grain pattern that is a result of a quarter sawn milling.
This is solid red oak flooring that features tongue and groove milling on all four sides of each plank, and the top edges are all square, so each plank buts tightly to the plank next to it. Each plank measures 3/4″ thick, 1 1/2″ wide and varying length from 1 to 7 feet long.
