Quarter Sawn lumber creates a more stable flooring product than plain sawn lumber. This is because of it’s unique properties, and the angle at with the saw blade cuts across the growth rings of the oak.

When oak is quarter sawn, a great deal of the of it becomes Rift oak, meaning the saw blade cut between a 30 to 60 degree angle across the growth rings. In this product, the Rift has been removed, providing a floor that is completely Quarter Sawn, meaning all of the planks have been cut at a 60 to 90 degree angle across the growth rings, creating the most dimensionally stable red oak flooring of all.
